Participation of the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences in the Kosovo Forestry Camp 2024
The Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences, in collaboration with FAO, the Kosovo Forestry Agency, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Development, participated in the Kosovo Forestry Camp held from October 21 to 25, 2024, in Novobërdë. This annual event, which is part of the accreditation agenda for the “Forest and Environmental Sciences” program, included participation from the Dean, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Albana Plakiqi Milaimi, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Mirvjena Kellezi, and Prof. Assoc. Dr. Ylli Kortoçi, alongside third-year students of the program.
During the camp, participants engaged in practical activities focused on sustainable forest management, silvicultural practices, safe forestry equipment use, and the role of women in the forestry sector. Professors volunteered their time, providing support and expertise to students who benefited from this important professional experience.
The participation of agricultural high schools from across Kosovo further enriched the event and contributed to promoting our program within the wider community. A proud moment for our faculty was the presence of alumni, now employed with FAO and the Kosovo Forestry Agency, who contributed as part of the camp’s technical staff.
We thank FAO, the Kosovo Forestry Agency, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Development for their ongoing collaboration and support, which make it possible to organize such activities that prepare our students for professional challenges in forestry and environmental protection.
This camp serves as a valuable opportunity to promote the practical application of knowledge and inter-institutional cooperation in support of sustainable forest development in Kosovo.
