Study Visit to “Agroprodukt” Company in Istog and the Forest Institute Nursery in Peja
As part of efforts to bring students closer to professional practice and field activities, students from the Forestry and Environmental Sciences program of the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences carried out a study visit to the “Agroprodukt” company in Istog and the Forest Institute Nursery in Peja.
The students were accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Albana Milaimi, and professors Ylli Kortoçi and Mirvjena Kellezi, as part of the following courses: Non-Timber Forest Products, Professional Practice and Silviculture, and Environmental Protection and Environmental Monitoring.
At Agroprodukt, participants were welcomed by the company’s manager, Mr. Besim Loshaj, who presented the company’s activities related to the cultivation, processing, and marketing of non-timber forest products, with particular emphasis on medicinal and aromatic plants. The students had the opportunity to closely observe the processes of collection, drying, and processing of these products, as well as to understand their importance for rural development and environmental sustainability.
The visit continued at the Forest Institute Nursery in Peja, where the students were welcomed by the Institute’s Director, Mr. Luan Hyseni, and the technical staff. During the visit, modern methods of seedling propagation, maintenance, and planning for forest regeneration were presented. The Institute’s staff shared their experiences in the field of silviculture and assisted students in gaining practical understanding of the concepts discussed in lectures.
This visit was considered highly valuable by all participants, as it helped bridge the gap between theory and practice and contributed to the professional development of students in the fields of sustainable forest resource management and environmental protection.
