
Lecture on Forest Fire Protection
With the approach of the summer season and the rise in temperatures, the risk of forest fires significantly increases. Therefore, the summer season has been defined as the “critical period of the year for the occurrence of forest fires.”
As humans are responsible for 97% of forest fires, preventive measures and awareness are among the main contributors to the fight against these fires.
Today, at the Faculty of Life Sciences and Environment, specialist engineer Naim Ramadani, with over 40 years of experience, was invited.
The engineer delivered a very interesting lecture focused on the role of forests, the factors influencing the spread of fires, providing some statistics on fire incidents in Kosovo, the economic damage they have caused, and the measures taken in the fight to extinguish fires.
The lecture was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Albana Milaimi, the professor of the “Forest Fire Protection” course, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mirvjena Kellezi, who was also the initiator of this event, as well as the esteemed professors of this Faculty: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faruk Bojaxhi, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ylli Kortoçi, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sadik Maloku.
Also present was the specialist from the Forestry Agency in Prizren, Engineer Ekrem Krasniqi, many graduates, and current students at the Faculty of Life Sciences and Environment.
