Prof. Assoc. Dr. Albana Milaimi from the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences (FLES) has been trained at the WSL Institute in Zurich-Switzerland, on Microbiological (cultivation of parasitic fungi) and Molecular (PCR analysis of Cryphonectria species and viruses present in non-aggressive forms of cancer) for cultivation, identification and measures to be taken in the fight against Chestnut blight caused by Cryphonectria parasitica. The training was a week that followed after the survey of the situation in the field (Junik, Deçan, Prizren, Pejë) and the taking of samples and then their analysis at the WSL Institute. This training was carried out in support of FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), under the supervision of the Head of the Institute, Dr. Sc. This project has made it possible to increase the research capacities of the academic staff of FLES and to better prepare our graduates for the labor market.
